I've noticed that in the spring when a cold front swings through the bite tends to turn down while I'm on the boat on a lake. River is different. I've caught fish on the Missouri river during a cold front. But weather I do believe plays a big factor. Bright hot sunny days during the summer I've caught plenty but some of those days I will get skunked. But fish always eat, it's just the ones that are hungry you have to find. Bait in my opinion is the biggest factor. Certain baits on that given day make a big difference too. I'll go out catch catfish the night before off cut bluegill, the very next night they won't touch it but they will hit off shad. Catfish in my opinion are picky eaters. I think it comes down to knowing your body of water. Baits. And locations on your body of water. But all these situations, weather, baits, locations to fish on the water is what makes this adventure of chasing the beast so fun. To get out there on the water and test your skills and just learn and teach yourself is a life time experience.
